Need to make what us fitters call a T stick? Nothing new but maybe it can help you. A metal cutting blade. Metal file. 1ft of 3/8 inch all thread rod. 2ft piece of unistrut. Pair of nuts and washers. Find center of unistrut. Drilling a hole may be required. I usually keep about 1ft of rod up so I can see the measurements better. Fasten the washers and nuts on both sides of unistrut. Lay the T stick on the ceiling grid and start measuring. Take it apart when fished. I've seen some made of 2x6 wood, pieces of iron, actual ceiling grid, yard sticks, etc. Be creative. Some guys even made some where they can fold the rod down with some mechanism instead of taking it apart every day. Gauges can be the short version of a long story. To save you the hassle of running around, just change the gauge. This gauge was built in 2019, and gauges are to be changed at least every 5 years. Searching, but you can't find? Fire sprinklers do have some style. The fire code does allow for sprinkler covers to come in different colors, but the styles don't change much. In this house, we were able to match the tone of the faux beam almost perfectly. Although the wood finishes are limited, they do come in lighter shades. The color code or a good sample can be sent to the manufacturers, and they can provide almost any colors to match your desired color. Before and after. This small fire riser only protects 3 fire sprinklers in the front patio of this residence. Over time, because of the water sitting and using the wrong pipe to avoid corrosion, it was clogging in the inside and eating away at the metals. It is very important to test and run your fire sprinkler system to at least cycle the water annually, regardless of how little it protects. Tolco Home Hydrant Tank System. This is our 3rd Tolco system we have worked on. These systems are unique because they are not allowed in all jurisdictions. This particular locations water supply goes underneath the neighbors' driveway, so we suggested using this system to help save them on trenching and destroying the neighbors driveway. Our engineer is great at working with these systems and helping owners find solutions that suit them and their particular project. The fire department was good with it, but the calculations to make these systems work were tricky. Although it had a built-in pump, the fire department was concerned that the refill rate would be too slow, so we had to add a second bladder tank to store adequate water to make it work. These homes are a pain in the you know what, but are a great challenge. Eichler homes are interesting they feature glass walls as shown in the video and are an open concept floor plans. Not to mention they have no attic space so we had to use galvanized pipes. Exposed beams which means extra fire sprinklers in every bay. So the owner had exposed wood beams and did not want to have exposed fire sprinklers so our designer had to really get clever and he was able to come up with heads installed in each bay from the roof completely sealed by roofers.
